Since 2014

In 2014, we at San3a Tech began our strategic partnership with the U.S. Embassy’s American Center Cairo when we joined forces to offer a technology club in a public makerspace every Sunday. The collaboration grew quickly and in 2015 we organized the first Maker Faire in the Arab World. That same year, we also established our signature program, the Maker Diploma series of workshops, later followed by the Advanced Maker Diploma. These programs helped shape the Maker community in Egypt.

Maker Faire Cairo was the first featured official, licensed Maker Faire to take place in the region, and is now one of the biggest gatherings for Makers, DIYers, and technology enthusiasts in the Middle East and North Africa, with more than 10,000 attendees every year.

The Maker Diploma is a ten-week program, designed to provide participants with the needed skills to turn their ideas into prototypes and functioning projects, with no prior technical experience required. Through this strategic partnership, we have offered four to six rounds each year, reaching more than 100 participants. Explore previous final projects here

2019

In 2019, with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt won the rights to host the 15th annual Fab Conference, where more than 1,600 Fab Labs (“Fab” is short for fabrication) from around the world gather to share experience, exchange knowledge and have fun. The event was held in El-Gouna, organized by San3a Tech and Giza Systems, and sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in addition to other sponsors including ITIDA, Orange, Siemens, etc.

2021

In 2021, there is more demand than ever for our Maker and Advanced Maker Diplomas. We will continue to partner with the U.S. Embassy’s American Center Cairo to offer their signature programs. At the same time, San3a Tech will begin to partner with new sponsors to offer additional rounds of these programs to new participants.
